Tarik Sheppard is a former NYPD Assistant Chief with 21 years of experience leading in high pressure, high - visibility environments. As Deputy Commissioner of Public Information for the NYPD, Sheppard led the country‘s largest and most demanding public relations team in law enforcement. He is the founder and former president of the Metro Organized Retail Crime Alliance, which is a public/private partnership between law enforcement, Fortune 500 retailers and prosecutors. He served as the commanding officer of the 28th precinct, in Harlem, led mental health co-response initiatives, and
community outreach units.
FBI National academy graduate. MPA from Marist College. Former NCAA basketball captain - bringing the same focus and teamwork to public-private problem solving.
Media Relations
As the former Deputy Commissioner of the NYPD’s public information department, he led the country’s largest and most demanding media relations team in local law enforcement and trained hundreds of uniformed officers and civilians on public speaking and messaging.

Founder and former president of the Metro Organized Retail Crime Alliance (MetrOrca). MetrOrca is a public- private partnership between law enforcement, prosecutors and retailers. Recipient of the National Retail Federation’s Law Enforcement Partner of the year award, I have helped businesses with complex retail crime and financial crime issues.
